For the first time ever, IWC presents a Pilot’s Chronograph with a movement from the 69000-calibre family, housed in a reduced case size with a diameter of 41 millimetres. The IWC-manufactured 69380 calibre is a rugged chronograph movement with a classic column wheel design. It displays stopped hours and minutes in two subdials at “9 o’clock” and “12 o’clock”. The bidirectional pawl-winding system builds up a power reserve of 46 hours. This chronograph with a bronze case, an olive green dial and a brown calfskin strap has a unique character. Depending on the use to which it is put, bronze develops a patina in the course of time and darkens in colour, giving the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Spitfire its own unmistakable character. A soft-iron inner case effectively shields the movement from magnetic fields.
During tortuous manoeuvres involving supersonic jets like the F/A-18, pilots are subjected to high g forces. But also extended missions on aircraft carriers, where they are exposed to the humid, salt-bearing sea air, put an enormous strain on both personnel and material. The TOP GUN Chronograph was developed using robust and corrosion-resistant materials such as ceramic and titanium for the elite among the US Navy’s jet pilots. For the first time ever, IWC has equipped this classic with an in-house movement from the 69000-calibre family. Apart from its stopwatch function, the IWC-manufactured 69380 calibre also has displays for the day and date. The red small seconds hand at “6 o’clock” provides a striking colourful highlight on the black dial. The case is made of-non-reflective black zirconium oxide ceramic, the back of the case from titanium. The watch is attached to the wrist with a black textile strap.
From this year onward, IWC is an official Licensee of the US Navy Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Squadron. The aerobatics flying team was founded in 1946 at the instruction of the Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Chester W. Nimitz. It currently comprises six Navy and Marine pilots, who fly F/A-18 Hornet jets. The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition “Blue Angels®” is powered by the IWC-manufactured 89361 calibre and displays the stopped hours and minutes combined on a subdial at “12 o’clock”. Thanks to the integrated flyback function, simply pressing the reset push-button returns the stopwatch hands to zero and immediately starts a new time measurement. The watch is housed in a case made of matt black zirconium oxide ceramic, while the dial and calfskin strap are blue. The separate depiction of the minutes in the outer ring and the hours on a smaller inner ring is reminiscent of the observer’s watches of the 1930s and 1940s. The inner ring supplies an eye-catching yellow highlight on the dial. The crest of the «Blue Angels®» is engraved on the case back.
The Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII Edition “Le Petit Prince” is a special-edition timepiece dedicated to Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s little prince. In both form and function, this watch reflects the ideal established by classic pilot’s watches. Like cockpit instrumentation, the clearly organized dial is reduced to essentials, and legibility is a top priority. The watch, which is water-resistant to 6 bar, is powered by an automatic 35111-calibre movement, meets the requirements of professional pilot’s watches in terms of precision and has a 42-hour power reserve. With its soft-iron inner case, it is optimally shielded against the influence of magnetic fields. The midnight blue dial and the brown calfskin strap with its cream coloured quilted stitching, which is reminiscent of Saint-Exupéry’s flight suit, make this a particularly eye-catching timepiece.
The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition “Le Petit Prince” has all the typical qualities of a high-performance watch: precision, functionality and reliability. The robust 79320-calibre chronograph movement handles single stop times and aggregate timing up to 12 hours and is optimally shielded against the influence of magnetic fields thanks to its soft-iron inner case. It features the trademark midnight blue dial. The watch is water-resistant to 6 bar and is sold with a calfskin strap from Santoni. This Pilot’s Watch has an engraving on the rear of the little prince with his cape and sword.

The 46-millimetre Big Pilot’s Watch Edition “Le Petit Prince” features the characteristic blue dial which has become the signature trademark of IWC’s special editions in tribute of Antoine de Saint-Exupérys most famous literary work. The watch is powered by the IWC-manufactured 52110-calibre movement. It features an efficient Pellaton automatic winding system with parts made from black or white ceramic. With the help of two barrels, it builds up a reserve of 7 days. The display at “3 o’clock” provides an indication of the remaining power reserve. The Big Pilot’s Watch has a date display at “6 o’clock” and the central seconds essential in any watch used for flying. With its soft-iron inner case, it is optimally shielded against the influence of magnetic fields. This Pilot’s Watch has an engraving on the rear of the little prince with his cape and sword.
A clearly organized dial and excellent legibility even under the most demanding conditions are the key features of the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph. Thanks to the robust 79320-calibre chronograph movement, it is possible to record single and aggregate times of up to 12 hours. The subdials at “12” and “6 o’clock” are used for aggregate timing while the red seconds hand at “9 o’clock” indicates that the watch is running normally. The movement has optimum protection against the effects of external magnetic fields in the form of a soft-iron inner case. The watch is water-resistant to 6 bar and is sold with a black calfskin strap. The back of the stainless-steel case features an engraving of a Junkers JU-52, whose cockpit design was the inspiration for all Pilot’s Watches.
